Start your adventure at the 2024 Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Sports Show. New exhibits! New speakers and seminars! New gear! Plus the return of your favorites!

Find it all at State Fair Park for the 83rd year of the Sports Show. Everything outdoors will be celebrated indoors for four days, and there will be something for all ages. There will be fishing tips at a 5,000-gallon aquarium, a trophy deer contest, a fastest retriever contest, archery tournament and traditional favorites like the huge Trout Pond and Lumberjack Show. And don’t forget the more than 100 vendors showcasing the best they have to offer. There’s so much to explore, you just might want to attend more than one day!

Appearing at the show Friday, March 8 at 6 p.m. on the Hawg Trough Stage.

Gerald Swindle has a 24-year professional career and competes at the highest level of fishing, the BASS MASTER Elite Series. He is a 2x Angler of the Year and has generated over 2 million dollars in total career earnings. Gerald is one of the most charismatic figures in professional fishing and has a large social platform where he connects and interacts with his community!


John Crews

Two-Time Bassmaster Champion

Appearing on Saturday, March 9 and Sunday, March 10 at 1pm on the Hawg Trough Stage.

John Crews is an American professional bass fisherman and businessman. He has been a competitive angler for over 20 years, participating in major tournaments such as the Bassmaster Classic and FLW Tour. He is also the owner of Missile Baits, a company that produces fishing lures and accessories. Throughout his career, Crews has become known for his expertise and dedication to the sport of fishing, and has won several titles and awards. He is also an active supporter of various fishing-related organizations and conservation efforts.

Ish Monroe

Appearing at the show Sunday, March 10 at 1 p.m. on the Hawg Trough Stage.

Ish is a well-established Elite angler and has generated over a million dollars in total winnings over the course of his 32-year career. Ish has an Instagram community of 62.3k followers and is also active on YouTube, where he educates and connects with his fans.

North America’s #1 Authority on Muskie & Pike Fishing

Appearing on Saturday, March 9 at 3pm and Sunday, March 10 at 11am on the Hawg Trough Stage.

Pete Maina is North America’s #1 authority on Muskie and Pike fishing. He is internationally known for his prowess with muskie, northern pike – big toothy fishes! He is an entrepreneur, accomplished author, photographer and TV personality.

Fastest Retriever Contest

A returning favorite to the show is the Fastest Retriever Contest (which is for dogs, not people, just to be clear). The whole family will enjoy this event, as the top amateur retrievers (regardless of breed) compete in daily contests to show off their skills. And you won’t want to miss the Sunday show, as winners will be crowned then. It’s sure to be a paws-itively amazing experience! 

Qualifying Rounds and Finals take place on the Lumberjack Stage. 12 dogs MAX per qualifying round. Two dogs from each round will move onto the finals. No repeat entries to qualify.

Archery Tournament

Back by popular demand is the archery contest being held by West Town Archery. The contest (this one IS for humans) will pit the best archers against each other in eight different categories. Kids and adults can compete, as well as teams, and more than $10,000 in prize money will be handed out this year. It’s like watching an Olympic event right at the show!  

 Participants must pre-register for the youth, adult, bowhunter and target shooting events.  All participants will receive show admission with their paid registration!  Register to participate here.

Registration for the West Town Archery Tournament Series is NOW OPEN!

WBBC Trophy Deer Contest 

Attendees are invited to bring in their own trophy deer for the Wisconsin Buck & Bear Club Trophy Deer Contest. There is a fee to participate but think of all the glory you’ll receive! All entries will be displayed for the public. Just bring your trophy deer to the show and sign up at Wisconsin Buck & Bear Club’s booth. Guests enter the show free with a trophy deer to enter in the contest

Air Rifle Tournament

Take your best shot and compete for your share of $1250 in cash prizes at the air rifle competition at the 2023 Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Sports Show. The top 3 youth and top 3 adult shooters each day will advance to the finals on Sunday (with free return admission, excludes parking).

Cash Prizes 

Youth: $750 1st Place, $250 2nd Place, $150 3rd Place 

Adult: $200 1st Place, $100 2nd Place, $50 3rd Place
