Trophy Deer Contest Rules and Scoring

GENERAL INFORMATION
Bring your trophy deer to the first annual Journal Sentinel Sports Show TROPHY DEER CONTEST (the “Contest”). Get your official Boone & Crockett score, show off your trophy deer for others to see (the “Trophy Deer”), compete for an award and attend the Awards Ceremony on the Main Stage, Sunday Mar. 13 at 2:20 p.m. Compare your Trophy Deer with the best in the area. Plus, when you register your Trophy Deer in the Contest, you’ll receive a Weekend Pass to return every day of the Sports Show( excludes parking).
ENTRY TIMES
Bring your Trophy Deer to the Journal Sentinel Sports Show located at the Wisconsin State Fair Park Exposition Center at 8200 W Greenfield, Ave, West Allis, Wisconsin (the “Sports Show”) during our operating hours, Thursday – Saturday until 1 hour before closing and on Sunday until the noon deadline:
Thursday, March 10: 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Friday, March 11: 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Saturday March 12: 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Sunday March 13: 10 a.m. – noon
QUALIFICATIONS
All entries must have been hunter-killed by legal means as described in Wisconsin’s game laws. All entries must have been killed by the hunter entering the Trophy Deer. Immediate disqualification will occur for any entry that is determined by Contest Officials to have been found, picked up, purchased, taken prior to the current competition, or added/shaved or altered points. While found, shed or collected trophies do not qualify for the Trophy Deer Contest, our partner, the Wisconsin Buck & Bear Club, does recognize them and will score them at the show – see information below under “Non-Contest Scoring Services.”
HOW TO ENTER
All entries into the Contest are in-person at the Sports Show, March 10-13, 2022 during the above-referenced times There is no advance registration. Entries promptly close at noon on Sunday, March 13, 2022, and no entries will be accepted after this time. You must purchase an admission ticket to be admitted to the Sports Show. After you are inside the Sports Show, take your Trophy Deer to the Wisconsin Buck & Bear Club booth #1720, pay your Contest Entry Fee (as detailed below) and your Trophy Deer will be scored and entered in the Contest. Your Trophy Deer will be displayed for the duration of the Sports Show, and cannot be removed until Sunday, March 13 just prior to the Awards Ceremony at 2:20 p.m.

CONTEST ENTRY FEES
After you are admitted to the Sports Show, the Fee for the Trophy Contest and/or Scoring will be collected at the Wisconsin Buck & Bear Club Booth #1720. Remember, when you enter the Contest you will receive a Weekend Pass to return to the Sports Show every day. Plus, you’ll want to attend the Awards Ceremony on the Main Stage Sunday March 13 at 2:20 p.m. Entry fees are non-refundable.
Trophy Deer Contest Entry and Official Scoring Fee: $20
Includes entry into the Trophy Contest, Official Scoring and one (1) Weekend Admission pass for your unlimited non-transferrable return admission (parking excluded). Your Trophy Deer must remain on display through the close of the Sports Show on Sunday at 2:20 p.m. so you can take them to the Awards Ceremony on the Main Stage.
Trophy Deer Contest Entry without Scoring (Your Trophy has already been scored): $10
You must provide proof of your official score and present the official score sheet, no exceptions. Includes entry into the Trophy Contest, and one (1) Weekend Admission pass for your unlimited non-transferrable return admission (parking excluded). Your Trophy Deer must remain on display through the close of the Sports Show on Sunday at 2:20 p.m.
Early Removal Fee: $10
After you enter the Contest, your Trophy Deer must remain on display through the close of the Sports Show on Sunday at 5 p.m. If you need to remove the Trophy Deer prior to noon on Sunday, March 13, a $10 early removal fee applies, and your Trophy Deer will be removed from entry in the Contest. No early removals will be permitted on Sunday after 12:00 p.m. and the start of the Awards Ceremony at 2:20 p.m. Early removal disrupts the process for measuring and determining the Contest winners, so it is not permitted under any circumstances.
TROPHY DEER OFFICIAL SCORING AREA
Once you are inside the Sports Show, take your Trophy Deer to the Wisconsin Buck & Bear Club Booth #1720. We will collect your Trophy Contest Entry Fee and answer any questions you may have.
TROPHY CONTEST CATEGORIES
Beyond the fun of showing off your Trophy Deer to attendees and judges at the Sports Show, you might walk away with one of these awards for your harvest. As a bonus, if Paul Smith, Outdoors Reporter for the Journal Sentinel, is impressed by your Trophy Deer he just might write about it!!

OFFICIAL RULES
Rules will be published online and at the Sports Show in the Wisconsin Buck & Bear Club Booth #1720.
1. Whitetail Deer must be harvested during the Wisconsin hunting season and the hunter must be known. All entries must have been hunter-killed and by legal and by legal means as described in Wisconsin’s game laws. All entries must have been killed by the hunter entering the Trophy Deer who has a valid Wisconsin Hunting license, and the hunter may be asked to provide the license upon the request of Sponsor or the Wisconsin Buck & Bear Club. Immediate disqualification will occur for any entry that is determined by Contest Officials to have been found or picked up, purchased, taken prior to the current competition, or added/shaved or otherwise altered points.
1. Your entry does not need to be mounted, but it must have a solid skull plate and must be clean of flesh.
2. If your Trophy Deer has won First Place at a Sports Show or Expo since March 13, 2021 (within the past 365 days, it is not eligible to be entered in the Contest.
3. Your Trophy Deer must be present through the Awards Ceremony on Sunday, March 13 at 2:20 p.m. to win.
4. Awards are based on the antler score and the decision of the judges and Wisconsin Buck & Bear Club are final.
5. Scoring is based on Boone and Crockett provided by the Wisconsin Buck & Bear Club, at 877-273-6408 or www.wi-buck-bear.org.
6. Winners will receive a plaque or trophy (approximate retail value is $50.00). The winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony that will take place on the Main Stage, Sunday March 13 at 2:20 p.m.
NON-CONTEST SCORING SERVICES
The Wisconsin Buck & Bear Club will provide these additional services for a fee; check with them at their booth #1720 for details and information.
Measure-Only – Not Entered in the Trophy Deer Contest: $10
You can get an official score of any Wisconsin or out-of-state whitetails.
SHED Scores: $10
GENERAL CONDITIONS
1. By participating in the Contest, each entrant agrees to comply with these rules and the decisions of Sponsor and The Wisconsin Buck & Bear Club (together, the “Contest Entities”), which are binding and final, and release the Contest Entities, and each of their divisions, affiliates, parent companies, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies and anyone associated with the Contest, and their respective directors, officers, team members and agents from any and all liability for any claims, injuries, losses or damages (including attorney’s fees) of any kind arising out of their participation in this Contest or resulting from acceptance, possession, use or misuse of any prize. The potential winner waives the right to assert as a cost of winning the prize any and all costs of verification and redemption or travel to redeem said prize and waives any liability or claims (including attorney’s fees) which might arise from redeeming or seeking to redeem said prize. In the event of non-compliance with these rules, or if prize is refused or cannot be accepted for any reason, the prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner will be selected using the criteria established in this Contest for choosing a winner. Upon forfeiture or refusal, no compensation will be given. Acceptance of prize constitutes permission to use the winner’s name, photograph, likeness and/or statements attributed to winner regarding the Contest, for advertising and publicity purposes without further compensation or consent. All such material becomes the property of Sponsor.
2. This Contest shall only be construed and evaluated according to laws of the State of Wisconsin, without regard to the principles of conflicts of laws and participation in the Contest constitutes acceptance of such laws.
3. This Contest is void where prohibited. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply.
4. The Contest Entities reserve the right to change the rules of the Contest at any time.
5. Any and all decisions and interpretations of the Contest Entities regarding this Contest, these rules, and the selection of winners in this Contest shall be final and binding in all respects.
